Labyris Archives Submissions

By looking at my archive page you will get an idea what I am looking for regarding upcoming archive pages, and an overview of the archive project. Your contribution can range from a list of links, a list of books, or other resources by topic, or an article to be included on a resource page. Labyris.com and Uppitywomen.net are affiliated and I may use an article from Uppity Women (with permission) on a resource page for Labyris. The kinds of material needed for Uppity Women Magazine are listed below.

Uppity Women's Wish List

I am always interested in articles, essays, prose or poetry including the following themes or topics in English or Spanish (or bilingual text!):

Surviving poverty: strategies both pragmatic and psychological.

Class issues and their intersection with sexism, racism and other such issues.

Domestic violence: survival, recovery, and treatment issues for abusers.

Body image/Fat Oppression/Fat Pride (My fat pride issue will be out in October, 2000. There is still time to submit material for it--anything goes.)

Women's Spirituality: is it a cop out or something valuable that can enable us to continue our political efforts? How have you redefined your spirituality, if you have? Did you choose a different path as a result of feminism or did you alter your own understanding/practice of your present religion? We're planning a spirituality issue for Winter 2000-01.

Submissions for a letters column opening debate or requesting information and resources. Readers of Sagewoman will be familiar with the Rattle--I intend something similar.

Book reviews of books you've found helpful or much hyped books women should avoid wasting their money on. Be opinionated! Children's books also.

Do you differ from the dominant culture in some way? If so, how has that affected your life and experience?

If you are reading this from another country, what do you think of American-style feminism? How is it different in your country? Would you even call it feminism? If not, in what ways are women working together to improve their lives? What would you most want American women to know about your lives and ideas? What would you like most to change about your own culture or country? What would you most like to keep? American's are often woefully ignorant about lives elsewhere-- help us change that!

This list may change periodically--be sure to check back.
